It’s difficult not to like Salman Khan, even with his court cases for poaching and drunk driving that killed a pavement dweller. Even with his brawls and his public tiffs with his girlfriends, and in spite of his dumbass acting in some dumbass movies. We still love him. And on the Dabangg Khan’s 49th birthday (he was born on December 27, 1965), we tell you exactly why we do. Here are five qualities we love about Salman Khan:
The Dabangg Salman Khan
Yes, we keep calling him after his hit movie’s title because he literally rose like a phoenix in 2010 to deliver a hit – Wanted – after several back-to-back flops. Critics had written him off completely, and fans were getting tired of him. Just then, he reinvented himself through his South Indian film remakes like Wanted and Dabangg. And fans were more than happy to lap it up. Salman mania was at it again.
The Best Buddy Salman Khan
Whether to Aamir Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Sajid Nadiadwala, or to countless other industrywallahs and friends from other fields, Salman never gives up on them. He has even stood by once best friend and now rival Shah Rukh Khan and almost made up with him again after some impromptu hugs on Eid or at an awards function.
The Ladies Man Salman Khan
Salman had issues with his ex-girlfriends Aishwarya Rai (Bachchan) and Somy Ali – he had allegedly got violent with both of them. But after having moved on, he has never spoken ill of them in public.
Salman Khan continues to help his other exes Sangeeta Bijlani and Katrina Kaif, however heartbroken he is, and made peace with the Bachchans as well.

Salman has always been known to be big on charity. His Being Human Foundation is a recent phenomenon, possibly created to build a positive image after his court cases were eating print space and air time. But random acts of generosity, much like a king, is what Salman is famous for.

And you thought only Shah Rukh Khan was witty? Salman Khan has proved on TV shows like 10 Ka Dum and Bigg Boss that he does not lack wit. Well, Shah Rukh is indeed witty, sometimes in a very intellectual way that you think Salman cannot be ‘cos he is too goofy. But watch out. Salman is not as dumb as he projects himself to be and at times we’re caught unawares with his wit.
